Kristen Gaffney Verbally Commits to Virginia Tech


Kristen Gaffney 6' 1" Guard of the Hoops City 2010 ML All Stars and Green Hope High School 2012 has verbally accepted an offer to play Woman's Basketball at Virginia Tech University.

"Academically and Athletically, Virginia Tech provided Everything I was looking for to Prepare me for my future..The family atmosphere and the student body were tremendous at Late Night with the Hokies," said Gaffney. "I was extremely impressed with Coach Dunk and her staff and the current team member commitment to compete in the ACC. I look forward to becoming a Lady Hokie."

Kristen is entering her Junior season at Green Hope High School after leading the school to a 31-1 record state runner-up campaign this past season. As a sophomore, she averaged 26.6 points per game, and set the all-time North Carolina Sophomore Scoring Record. Her achievements earned her recognition as a member of the 2010 North Carolina 4A 1st Team All-State.

"Kristen is a phenomenal talent that possesses all of the desired traits to excel at the major college level. Her unique combination of speed, size, and scoring ability will give the Lady Hokie's a player that will be an immediate impact as a Freshman," shared Rik Seymour of Hoops City U, a former college coach who has coached Kristen at the AAU Club level since she was 10. "Although her talent is outstanding, she is even a more exceptional person. Her individual leadership qualities combined with a commitment, drive and dedication to achieve are tremendous character traits, continuing success as she enters this new opportunity."
