For The 2020 Summer

Important Notes for 2020 Summer Camps to protect the Safety of our Attendees

We are very excited to share our New Social Distancing Summer Basketball and All-Star Sports Camps. Due to the spring Covid-19 Pandemic, Summer camps will operate with a "New Normal." With the assumption that we will have relaxed restrictions to operate in the month of July with 50 or less participants, we have limited the quantity of registrations to stay within this guideline.

Summer camp competitions will be more structured towards social distancing individual skill development and individualized contests (rather than 5v5 games). We are optimistic that August will allow for traditional camp sizes (while still focused on skill development and individual contests).

For Camp Attendees
- You may wear a mask if preferred, staff are required to be in masks
- All Campers are requested to bring their own Basketball and use during the week
- Read the Detailed Camp Procedures at the Bottom of this Page including the adherence to a 6' social distancing throughout

It was a record year this past summer for our All-Sports Camps! Experience firsthand the fun, challenge and adventure of a camp filled with games!

Basketball - Baseball - Football - Soccer - Dodgeball - Kickball - Pickle Ball - Lacrosse - Sports Stations and much more!

CAMP DETAILS
The multi-sport summer camp program is geared towards boys and girls ages 5 -14. Snacks and drinks are available for purchase at our concessions stand.  Camp operates 9:00am until 4:00pm Monday through Friday. Student athletes are expected to be on time (early drop off and late pick up are available).

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
Students should bring two snacks, lunch, and plenty of water to drink. Lunches may be purchased for Friday only. Friday is Domino's Pizza.. Early drop-off and late pick-up may be arranged for an additional $10 per day per student for those who need 8:00am arrival and/or a pick up at 5:00pm. This Service will be available Monday thru Friday.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • Student Athletes should wear athletic attire and clean gym shoes
  • Please note all classes, camps, and special programs are non-refundable.
  • Because of our extensive offerings, we do not pro-rate camps, programs, or classes.
  • If you are using account credit, you must call Hoops City U (do not enroll online).
  • For those who have attended in years past, due to social distance procedures in place, we no longer will offer lunchtime opportunities to visit Defy Gravity.

All-American Multi-Sport Camps - Build Your Skills
The All-American Sports Camp is a great place for any young athlete who is willing to be challenged and experience multiple sports, work hard and have a blast! Campers will develop skills in basketball, dodgeball, baseball, soccer, football and many more activities!

Over the course of the week, their confidence will grow along with their skills and overall appreciation of each sport. It is our primary aim to teach the fundamentals within each sport and improve student athletes abilities in the finer points of each game.

Camp Procedures - Summer 2020 

The intent is to share with you this well thought out process as we navigate the “new normal,” provide you with the confidence to understand the depth of our efforts and most importantly, as many have shared with us in eager emails, take the proper actions to get the kids back on the courts and having FUN!

Check-In/Check-Out Procedures

Registration/Arriving to Camp

The first day of camp is one in which parents will escort their child into the facility to proceed with check-in procedure. The check-in has been modified to expedite the process significantly. When arriving to the Gym at the Front Door, you must wait outside in the marked 6’ spacing increments until the Hoops City Staff allows entry. When inside, proceed to the 6’ labeled locations in order by family (families may share the spacing indicators) to enable check-in. At check-in, you will receive the pick-up number for your child and other camp related items. Once you complete check-in, parents are required to exit so another family waiting outside, may enter. Other details will be provided in the camp check-in email each family receives the week prior to camp.

Prior to being permitted to take the court, upon arrival, each camper will have their temperature taken daily. No one is permitted to participate with the CDC recommended guidance if a temperature would read 100.4 F or higher.

Departing After Camp

When picking up your child, we will be arranging a new pick-up area at the Back of Hoops City, at the base of the inclined ramp. Cars should pull in the back (there will be signs directing) and players will be escorted by their Coach to the back door for departure. This is to ensure there is not a “passing” of those departing the facility and any who would be arriving. There will be a one way directional traffic flow of pedestrians both in and out of the building. When arriving your car, do not get out, please remain inside, with the pick-up number you were assigned at check-in posted in the drivers side window. If you are picking up multiple children, then please have all numbers visible in the front window. Players will be released in order of cars 3 at a time. In other words, we are not able to simply let everyone out and potentially have a dangerous situation with a child entering a car that might be the 9th in line, and then that car pull out of line to leave while other children are entering ahead of them. 

We do not anticipate any of this process of entering and departing to change for the rest of 2020.

Players should bring with them the following:

- A Water Bottle (Drinking Fountain will be off limits)
- Water, Gatorade and similar will be available at the concession stand
- A Basketball, no Hoops City basketballs will be available for individuals to use. Each participant attending Basketball Camp should bring their own ball

The Format of Camp

- No Games/1v1,2v2,3v3,4v4 or similar will occur
- Players will continue to adhere to 6’ social distancing guidelines
- Players will work on skill development while also taking part in individualized contests. 
- This enables the players to understand the basic movement while practicing social distancing guidelines
- Above all, we want Camp to be FUN!

Personal Protective Equipment

Masks: You may wear a mask or face covering at all Camp Sessions. Our Hoops City Front Staff will always be in protective mask. Currently in China, youth teams are also practicing in masks. Because of our emphasis on social distancing, there is going to be adequate spacing in the gym for each person to be able to participate without having that space compromised. Please note, Each player is responsible to bring their own mask, these would not be supplied by Hoops City.

Gloves: You may also wear gloves at all sessions if you prefer. Although by using your own ball and ONLY using your ball, that certainly decreases common touch area exposure. Disposable gloves allow you to have good “touch” and remain safe. Again, because gloves are so thin, it is perfectly fine if you prefer to wear them all sessions. Please note, Each player is responsible to bring their own gloves, these would not be supplied by Hoops City. It is recommended that an athlete bring at least 2-3 sets of gloves or more in case one might tear or need for multiple segments.

* As previously communicated, Hoops City was at the forefront of being proactive in aggressive and comprehensive disinfecting/cleaning measures in late February. This will continue as our staff will be cleaning all areas throughout all sessions. There will be hand sanitizer available for use as needed.
